selling —166 Gertrude Street, Fitzroy
- Vision - Kyp Bosci, Director
As the current custodians of 166 Gertrude Street, Kalex is acutely aware of how special this site is. Before putting pen to paper we set about establishing our vision for the site. This culminated in the documentation of a clear and strong conceptual brief that was then used to brief the design team and guide every decision as the plans developed for this extraordinary building. The internal mantra was “an exceptional site needs an exceptional response.” The importance we placed on this singularity of vision speaks to how seriously we have taken our responsibility to add to what is arguably Melbourne’s best residential precinct.
An exceptional site demands an exceptional response, which in turn relies upon a truly exceptional team. Kalex has tasked a select group of designers and artisans with a brief that places utmost emphasis on the site’s context, history and surrounds.
Jackson Clements Burrows, Valcucine, and Rogerseller are united by a commitment to quality and detail. Together with Kalex, they share a vision of 166 Gertrude Street as a site of ongoing design, heritage and human value – not merely a collection of apartments, but a community of homes.
Valcucine’s ethos is apparent in every element of their revolutionary kitchens. Sustainability is paramount, driving innovation in materials, technology and ergonomics, and the result is quite simply unlike any other kitchen available. Designed to last and even improve with age, a Valcucine kitchen is at once elegant, thoughtful and eminently usable.
Poised between the bustle of the CBD and the buzzing creativity of Fitzroy, 166 Gertrude Street balances superb amentity with the culinary and cultural offerings for which Melbourne is renowned. Within an easy stroll of theatres, parks and the famed Sports Precinct, with both high-rise and heritage architecture defining its horizons, Gertrude Street is where lifestyle, convenience and character uniquely intersect.
Seen from the air, the locale is at its eclectic best. A bird glancing down might glimpse street art and park-side weddings. Sport both professional and not-so-professional. Visitors marvelling at gothic-style monuments and locals passing time in the sun. Never boring, never expected and never a moment the same.
